I just read a seven page precis written by an environmental lawyer dealing with the Environmental Protection Act. He was trying to advise us as to whether the EPA gave the Ministry of the Environment the authority to order on-site cleanup of toxic contamination such as Agent Orange (Dioxins). His professional Conclusion… Well maybe, under certain comditions, if we’re lucky but the law is vague etc. etc. etc. In other words the law is written so intentionally vaguely that even a long time professional environmental lawyer can’t figure it out. It’s up to the Judge, it’s up to the court , it’s up to a hundred different variables. Bottom line is a well off polluting corporation will get the Justice they can afford and local citizens get nothing.
