Remebering is not enough, opposing the spectacle

11 Nov

Today several of us decided to make our voices heard at the spectacle of military pomp and glorification of war know as the remembrance day ceremony.
With a banner that stated “remembering is not enough, Smash Imperialism” we took our stand, holding it proudly while cops and military marched carrying U$ Flags, KKKanadian Flags and The Butchers Apron aka. The Union Jack.

To underscore the military nature of this commemoration yellow ribbon flags stating support our troops were also carried in this procession and a re writing of history was read esp. about the Invasion of Korea.

Ironically when they were talking about the dead and those that died in these conflicts for profit, there was no mention of the dead who died at the hands of “our troops” further entrenching this hierarchy of death.
Several people approached us in support, but others tried to instigate a confrontation, among them a man who kept on pushing us and pulled out scissors to cut our banner.

All in all today was successful as we raised the issues, created room for dialogue (except with those who wanted confrontation) and showed another side of the story by opposing this spectacle.

Yes, I also didn’t here any mention of the fine troops growing and guarding the poppy fields in Afghanistan for the Banksters, or the number of troops committing suicide after multiple tours of duty running the illegal wars of occupation and aggression for the elites to profit on.

Fucken Idiot, when was our freedom threatened? you just use pointless platitudes to invoke emotional responses without having anything to back it up. People like you willingly send whole generations to the slaughter for no other reason then the fact you think you have a right to impose you view on the whole world. If you really believe what you are saying you go and die in these pointless wars and leave the rest of us alone!!!

Doug, you appear here with the sad inevitability of an unloved season. How special Julian must feel that you devote so much time to following his efforts and adding your “unique” voice to the proceedings. Strange too that you seem to be such a fan of Remembrance Day but are unable to spell it.
