They Know Just What They Do!!!

“Don’t be deceived when they tell you things are better now. Even if there’s no poverty to be seen because the poverty’s been hidden. Even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which industries foist on you and even if it seems to you that you never had so much, that is only the slogan of those who still have much more than you. Don’t be taken in when they paternally pat you on the shoulder and say that there’s no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason to fight because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretence of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they’ll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces.”
? Jean-Paul Marat

Yesterday I attended an amazing forum where poor people gave testimony on their experiance. The organizers put alot of hard work into it and despite the fact that my blood poisoning was pretty bad i enjoyed most of it. I state most of it because at one point in time a woman got up and spoke about how politicians are human just like us, and instead of complaining we should pray to God to give them guidance. This was followed by another comment on how we should be thankful for what we have. Sometimes I realise that even though I live in KKKanada my daily reality is very different then other people’s, who through luxury or superstition have isolated themselves into a bubble and ignore the pain and suffering of marginalized people in this territory.
Quite a few of us were sitting together and we made so smart ass comments to ourselves about this, i belive i said we should pray for their swift demise, and organize to make it to so. The reality is that the people I organize with have nothing to be thankful for esp. when it comes to their treatment at the hands of the state. As factory’s are closing down, welfare and social assistance is being cut and police intensify there campaign of control and patrol I need not wonder what affects our prayers will have on these politicians. To say that we need to pray for them to have guidance is based on two false premises, the first being that the politicians have our best interests at heart and have no idea what is really going on and the second is this medieval notion of divine intercession, The issue is not what ones spiritual believes are but rather that contrary to these false premisses these politicians know exactly what they do.They are implementing a policy aimed at increasing the wealth of the few through de industrialisation, dismantaling the crumbs they have thrown at us, intensify their programs of pacification and creating a climate of economic a physical violence. As a community worker organizing people who the system has discarded I see this violence everyday. From single mothers not having medicine for their children to two-year waiting lists at methadone clinics, to drug od’s and the parasitic violence committed by dealers, to forced eviction, suicide and suicide attempts and to intensified policing. Preying for these politicians will achieve nothing because what they are doing is by design, to create a society that benefits them and their puppet masters on our backs. As we hope these politicians rule wisley they are cutting social programs, attacking the most vulnerable and intensifying their colonialist project.

What does a single mother forced to sell her body to buy food for her child have to be grateful for to these politicians, When our friends torso is found in a dumpster because she owed a small sum of money what does she have to be grateful for, when nation here and abroad are facing genocide and environmental racism what do they have to be grateful for. Should we be grateful for the hunger imposed on us or the baton across our heads when we complain about it. Should we be grateful that we are allowed to sleep in shelters overcrowded and full of violence, or the fact that our sisters are sold into the sex industry as a direct result of these economic policy’s putting them and others in a position where the parasitic exploiting class will use them and then toss them battered brutalized and traumtised when they are done.

Platitudes like this are an insult to who we are and the work that we do.There is a saying forgive them father for they know not what they do,this is totally not acceptable in this instance, while they sit in bay st. plotting ways to screw us over, cutting deals to give tax cuts to the rich while the rest of us are tossed aside, i think they know exactly what they are doing. Its about time we did the same, educate ourselves on what is being done and find ways to resist!!!!!
