Cops Screws Murderers, Mayday action at GVI Womans Pen a success

2 May

On Mayday a group of political activist went to Grand Valley Womans Institute and held a noise demo to let the prisoners know we are there for them.

GVI is infamous for the murder of Ashley Smith by isolation, as well as many other crimes committed by screws.

Our noise demo was greeted by cheers from the prisoners, and yelling at by the screws, whom we told that we have nothing to stay to the people who sat by and allowed Ashley smith to die.

After awhile Police showed up and tried to detain us for allegedly shooting off fireworks and other such nonsense, to which the prisoners all chanted FUCK THE POLICE!!!!

All in all we had no arrests, and brought some cheer to those tortured by screws letting them know that they are not forgotten

That action by Julian and colleagues is one of the few public actions taken against Corrections Canada, whereas they deserve so much more and worse. Last Friday or Saturday the Waterloo Region Record advised that out of the Ashley Smith inquiry has come TWO new beds for female inmates with mental health issues. I say more grassroots protests until CSC get the message that inmates are human beings.
