Public meeting a success followed by sit in at mayors office and meeting with the mayor

us with the mayor after our discussion

Today we held a community consultation on the proposal that we are putting forward to deal with poverty homelessness and unemployment. The meeting was well attended and after people read the proposal there were several suggestions that we added to the working documents. These points are 1. Separation between dry spaces and wet spaces, eg don’t house addicts with family’s with kids or recovering people 2. That drug testing kits be widely supplied and harm reduction work pushed forward with the goal of opening a safe injection side 3. that community workers work with people in the low income housing to find barriers that they are dealing with and find solutions 4. protective space for children and family’s and also services for people whom just got out of prison.

This was followed by a lovely discussion that led to us to the doorstep of the mayors office where we had a very positive visit. We discussed the proposal with him and agreed to renew our working relationship, we discussed ways in which we can combat the opiate drug epidemic and reminded him that he said he would help people whom we are having issues getting into housing into housing. After the mayor talked to the woman who has many physical and mental health issues he took down her name and a project was started for the mayor to personally make sure the wheels of the system turn properly. The mayor thanked us for our work and told us that the next meeting will be attended by himself and or other people from his office and will assist with our proposal. If you are interested in getting the proposal please email me at jichim32@gmail.com

All in all today was a success and we are happy that we are moving forward.

Always the same BUMS in the pictures whining about something.I’d have thought at least one of you could have found a job by now if you even bothered to look.Lots of jobs out there for people willing to work instead of collecting welfare and crying poor and homeless!!

Wow who peed in your cornflakes Doug? Assuming you weren’t born with a silver spoon in your mouth I would guess that you’ve been very fortunate in your choice of employers. Never had a company shut down where you were working? Never had a serious injury at work taking you off the payroll for a year or more? Never had the big C (cancer) requiring surgery and chemo or radiation afterwards? If the answer is no to all of these you should thank your lucky stars rather than criticizing people whose lives you know nothing about.
